How to Get Your Kids to Love to Read Books
Literacy is typically described as the ability to read and write.
It involves a continuum of learning.
Literacy experience for children should begin at the time a toddler understand simple things. Develop their oral skills at early stage and let the children become more aware on all things around them.
For hardworking mom and dad or nanny, this does not mean planning new set of subjects.
Whenever the child is interested in learning something, forget whatever else you are planning.
Teach them right then.
Establish meaningful interaction.
How? Here are some tips. Give time for your children. Children have a short attention span. Spare them time for about forty to sixty minutes and stop.
You will be surprised how forty to sixty minutes sitting beside your children indoor or outdoors works.
Companionship is quite important.
Bring with you a book or a game. Select a character they want to talk about.
It is important that the subject matter is their choice and not yours. Add visual presentation Provide complete materials and objects such as keys, blocks, buttons, etc. of different colors.
Use also printed and written materials associated with varying contexts. Let them identify the colors. It is a perfect time also to teach your child to count using the materials you provided.
Other learning approaches Children love new words.
As parents and as nanny, if possible, teach them a nursery rhyme.
Exchange ideas on a certain character and play creatively.
Enrich their oral skills.
Language Approach Start with kinesthetic activity. This activity place a greater emphasis on motion. Young children can play on the kitchen, eyes closed, the child would be unable to walk but by using the sense touch, hearing, and balance, they can be able to walk. Modeling language is any artificial words that can be used to express information or knowledge or systems defined by a consistent set of rules.
The rules are used for interpretation of the meaning. You can turn them all in favor of a rhyme or a poem.
There are many number of approaches to teaching literacy, each is shaped by informing assumptions about what literacy is and how it is best learned by students.
Develop their knowledge and potential especially their ability to read, write, listen, and speak.
Bear in mind that every learner has its own method of development and learning should be fun.
